Statewide Parenting Day is a very special event that is conducted in October of each year in public schools all across the state of Alabama. The goal of Parenting Day is to increase parent involvement which, in turn, increases student achievement. Booth Elementary parents demonstrated, once again, that they are committed to their children's education. Community businesses, a community organization, parents, and staff came together to make Booth's Parenting Day a huge success! Parents participated in a variety of activities including parent workshops in reading, math, and technology. Parents visited their children's classrooms to observe lessons and later in the day, engaged in parent/teacher/student partnership conferences. Further, Mrs. White of the Drug Education Council presented helpful and timely information to parents regarding preventing drug and alcohol abuse with prevention beginning in the elementary years. The day ended with a family hot dog dinner... a big thanks to Brian McLean for grilling over 500 hot dogs!
